"Oh, honey... That's how I roll." ~Trixie Mattel

A queen that slays again and again and again-unhhhh! From her rise in fame in RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 to winning All Stars Season 3, to releasing 4 music albums, to co-hosting the now legendary talkshow on Wow Presents (iconically called "UNHhhh") and her new makeup line Trixie Cosmetics, she has been killing the game in every aspect of the entertainment business!

Drag Career

"I always tell my mom that if she would have just bought me a Barbie when I was little, I would have gone into real estate." ~Trixie Mattel

With the on-brand barbie look, makeup contoured to the Gods and waist snatched A.F., the skinny legend Trixie Mattel's style is definitive and reflective of her drag name and personality! Her wit and ability to throw major shade while being extremely funny at the same time makes her a truly unforgettable character. Although her career started not as smooth-sailing in Drag Race Season 7, she eventually won All Stars 3, as well as the RuPaul's Holi Slay Spectacular (though all the participants won), making her the first and only contestant to win 2 crowns. She is also the first winner of RuPaul's Drag Race who is not fully Caucasian (She has native American blood in her, as she is half Ojibwe!), so go ahead and represent Mama!

Although she won All Stars 3, some RuPaul's Drag Race fans were quick to disapprove the result as they all had their queens in mind whom they thought deserved to win. Of course, these discussions happen all the time! Instead of looking at which queens deserve to win a season, why not see who is the best queen of all time?

There is only one way we can find that out: Have your very own Drag Race!

With this portable Game of Queens card game, you'll have a stack of 32 all-time best queens and YOU determine the best drag queen of all time by pitching queen with queen! In the Game of Queens, there is only one queen who slays the rest and your vote determines the queen that gets to "shantel you stay" and who has to "sashay away".

Music Career

"Out of drag, I'm a white guy with a guitar, which isn't special. There are a million white guys with guitars. But being a drag queen with a guitar is a lot more commanding."
~Trixie Mattel

Did you know that our gal Tracy Martel is also a musician? Fluent in the autoharp, guitar and clarinet, she is truly a jack of all trades! Besides slaying the Drag Race game, Trixie's music career has also popped off, with her music peaking at number 39 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. Her “One Stone” EP reached tenth place on the Independent Albums chart and the sales was so good, her album was placed at number 64. We stan a multi-talented queen!

Comedy Career

"I came here to eclipse people with my talent, and also my hair." ~Trixie Mattel

I must admit, I do not watch RuPaul's Drag Race (don't come at me!). Having said that, I really admire the sass and fierceness of drag queens, seeing them strut their strut in full glam, big hair don't care and their voluptuous curves, I can't help but be in absolute awe!

Even though I don't keep up with Drag Race, I am a big fan of comedy. Imagine the hours of joy "UNHhhh" has brought into my life after stumbling upon it on YouTube one day. The witty banter between icons Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova is absolutely hilarious! Their on-screen chemistry is undefeatable and they are so incredibly open and funny and yet are super real and absolutely relatable. Also, they have the best producers and editors that have broke the charts in terms of editing, I really don't get how they do it and I look forward to each and every episode!

If you do watch "UNHhhh" or "The Trixie & Katya Show", I want to know if you are more of a Trixie or Katya. Try the Are you Trixie or Katya Quiz here (I am Trixie)!

Oh Honey, She's A Star!

"If you don't accept me at my David Blaine, you don't deserve me at my Criss Angel." ~Trixie Mattel

Trixie has explored the lands no other drag queens (even RuPaul herself!) were given a chance to. She has been starring in countless interviews, magazines, songs, movies, you name it gurl, and Trixie Mattel's been there and done that!

For instance, Trixie was featured on the cover of Autoharp Quarterly Magazine, a publication that is dedicated to autoharpists. Needless to say, it was the first time that the magazine featured a drag queen!

Furthermore, in 2018, she became the first-ever drag queen to be interviewed by Larry King – a feat that not even RuPaul had achieved before.

Then, alongside Bob the Drag Queen, Trixie was featured on a JetBlue special video for Pride Month where both queens portrayed flight attendants.

Although she has never been to a comedy class, or had any prior experience to doing stand-up, she has opened for many stand-up comics, and even had some stand-up shows where she worked the audience like a pro!

Trixie recently released her own documentary, "Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts" and critiques were overwhelmingly positive about the realness this documentary brought them. This documentary takes us on a journey of high highs and low lows, a journey of both Brian Michael Firkus and Trixie Mattel. It has received an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4 on IMDb. A solid introduction to the world and wonder of drag queens, personal struggles and celebrity-hood told through some bouts of humour, this movie is truly a masterpiece shaped in true Trixie Mattel fashion.

 Makeup Line

"I wanted to create a makeup line that takes you from backstage to a retro toy aisle. Is it possible for a product to make you feel like a kid but still be pro formulated? YES HONEY!" ~Trixie Mattel

The makeup legend Trixie Mattel herself has had her share of makeup knowledge, having worked as a makeup artist at MAC, Ulta, and Sephora before her drag career. She enjoys picking up bottles in stores and checking the ingredients in it. Plus, she went to beauty school in college so gurl definitely understands makeup products well!

Makeup is an essential part of drag, and since she cakes all that on her face everytime she becomes Trixie, Sugarpill, a makeup brand, decided to work with her to create a palette that contains all her iconic colours, and the colour scheme definitely did not disappoint! Encased in a feminine yellow-based packaging with touches of pink, this limited edition palette comes with the iconic Barbie pink liquid lipstick. Of course, it completely sold out!

Trixie recently released her own makeup brand, Trixie Cosmetics ! The first products are of course the iconic Trixie Mattel lip colour, encased in the most retro yet cute looking heart-shaped case (we stan the packaging!) and some glitters that she claims are soft enough to not hurt your face when you rub 'em off!

She seeks to create a sickening formula but of course the makeup is wrapped in a packaging that screams "TRIXIE MATTEL!", and people LOVED it!

Still Not Convinced Trixie Mattel is Not the Queen of Drag?

Well, what else can we say? She's dressed to impress, full of slick sass, talent she possess, and she sure can shake that... Idea that drag is a lowly job that deserves to be looked down upon, or that drag queens are freaks. While not all queens manage to become as successful as her, Trixie has indeed proved to us that the LGBTQA+ community is strong, fierce and capable of becoming anything they want to be... And that's the true tea hunty!

~Have a ho (good) week! 😊~
